Tumbling CLASSES

Summer 2021

 

​Tumbling classes have a 1:8 coach to athlete ratio. Athletes will work on tumbling technique and advancing their tumbling skills. Our classes are a 45-60 minute structured session, once a week. We recommend our classes to all of our competitive team members, however classes are open to non-members as well. Classes are divided by level. Athletes must have mastered their skills in the previous level to be eligible for the class. No exceptions will be made for this rule. All classes are age 6+. 

Tumbling classes run in two sessions main (Fall & Winter) & we are also offering a 6-week summer session this year!

Once the first class has commenced a refund will not be available for the current session. The class fee will be charged on the 1st day of the session. Members must have a credit card on file for their class payment or can pay by cheque. Please see below for class levels & schedule:

Classes

Level 1 Tumbling (Beginners)

Level 1 tumbling for beginners is appropriate for beginners to tumbling up to intermediate athletes who are working on any skills ranging from basic body shapes to handstands, cartwheels, round offs and rolls.

Tuesdays, 3:45-4:45pm

Level 1 Tumbling (Advanced)

Level 1 tumbling advanced is appropriate for beginner-intermediate tumblers who have mastered handstands, cartwheels, round offs and rolls and are now working on skills such as handstand forward rolls, back walkovers and front walkovers.

Fridays, 3:45-4:45pm.

Level 2 Tumbling

(athletes must have mastered all level 1 skills to be eligible for this class)

Level 2 tumbling will focus on skills such as standing back handsprings, round off back handsprings, front handsprings, and back walkover back handsprings. 

Mondays, 3:45-4:45pm (option A)

Wednesdays3:45-4:45pm (option B)

members can choose one or both classes, to suit their schedule.

Level 3 Tumbling

(athletes must have mastered all level 1 & 2 skills to be eligible for this class)

Level 3 tumbling will focus on skills such as round off back handspring back tuck, round off tuck, aerials, punch fronts, standing back handspring series, and jump to back handspring series. 

 

Mondays, 5:00-6:00pm.

Level 4 Tumbling

(athletes must have mastered all level 1 , 2, and 3 skills to be eligible for this class)

Level 4 tumbling will focus on skills such as round off back handspring back layout, standing back tuck, front handspring front tucks, standing back handspring series to tuck, front handspring step outs, and front aerials.

Wednesdays, 5:00-6:00pm.

Adult Tumbling (18+)

Suitable for all adult tumbles with a variety of skill mastery and experience.

Adult tumblers will participate in warm up and basics together, then the rest of the class will be tailored to the specific goals of each participant depending on where their personal skill level is at. A variety of skill levels will be targeted in this class!

Thursdays, 5:00-6:00pm.​​

Summer 2021

Flyer Strength & Flexibility

 

Designed to develop & increase the strength & flexibility in targeted areas for flyers. Core strength, ankle stability, body awareness, back, shoulder, and lower body flexibility are the main objectives, however this class is not just for flyers! anyone with a desire to increase their strength & flexibility can join. 

Thursdays, 3:45-4:45

Jumps & Flexibility

Designed to develop & increase the strength & flexibility for jumps such as toe touches (straddle jumps/russians), pikes, hurdlers, split jumps etc. This class will focus on increasing the speed of fast twitch muscles in the hip flexor area as well as strengthening the body to control the height and speed of jumps. Additionally, athletes will focus on flexibility to increase the height in jumps and overall elasticity of the muscles! This class is perfect for cheerleaders, dancers, or gymnasts!

Dance & Performance

Bootcamp

 

This class will be a challenge and geared towards our teens & adults. Functional fitness, strength training, and cardio will be combined in each class for a great 60 minute workout!

Mondays, 6:15-7:15PM

Cheer Fit

This class is great for our kids & teens. Stay fit & get a good cheer & tumbling related workout in every week!

 

Fridays, 5-6pm 

Run Club

This is geared towards our teens & adults. Runners of all experience levels will learn running technique from one of our instructors who is a seasoned runner. Short distances to build towards longer distances will be run in this class.

Wednesdays, 6:15-7:30pm

Open Gym (8-12 yrs)

For athletes age 8-12 working on their skills in a supervised, unstructured setting. Register for all 6 classes for $35.00 or drop in to open gym for $10/class.

Tuesdays, 6:30-7:45pm

Open Gym (13-18+)

For athletes age 13+ working on their skills in a supervised, unstructured setting. Register for all 6 classes for $35.00 or drop in to open gym for $10/class.

Thursdays, 6:30-7:45pm

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private tumbling lessons are offered to any athlete of any level. You do not need to be a member of an Island Elite team to be eligible for privates. Private lessons are recommended for anyone seeking one-on-one instruction to improve their tumbling at a rapid pace. Privates can be done with a one athlete to one coach, two athletes to one coach or three athletes to one coach ratio. We currently have 7 USASF/BCCA certified coaches who can offer private tumbling lessons.
