Spring Training is our initial intake for the competitive season. If you are a returning athlete from the previous competitive season or a new athlete Spring Training is the correct time for you to join our program for the upcoming competitive season!

Spring Training is a 7 week session running from May 11th-June 26th, 2020. Returning members and new athletes will be integrated to create new teams for the upcoming season. These teams will be sorted by age group and skill level, however, the finalized level of the team for the competition season will not be confirmed until later in the summer (closer to choreography camp) in order to give teams time to work on their skills and teams without limitations. Most teams will practice twice a week, for 2 hours each practice, but please check the practice schedule for details.

The first week of Spring Training (May 11th-15th) is our tryout week. Each age group/level has two sessions where athletes must come in at their appropriate age/level groups time to be tryout for team placements. You must be registered for your session before attending tryouts.

After tryout week, you will be informed by email which team you have been placed on for the remaining 6 weeks of spring training where you will practice twice a week for the rest of spring training. Please note - anyone could be moved to a different team throughout spring training and the summer months. At Island Elite we use all of Spring Training, as well as the beginning few months of our competitive season in the summer, to continue to evaluate athletes skills, work ethic, and overall performance in order to determine the very best team fit for each athlete.

The purpose of Spring Training is to build the foundations in preparation for the competitive season and focus on teaching and improving proper technique in all areas of cheerleading including stunts, jumps, tumbling and motions. Teams will work on safe progressions, level appropriate skills and learn to implement technique in all areas of the sport. Additionally, mini routines will be created during this session which will be performed at a community event during Spring Training! Register for your tryout session on the registration page.
